Lazy Girl’s Winter Skincare

Lazy Girl’s Winter Skincare

My skin is dry at the best of times so Winter really brings a whole new meaning to as dry as the Sahara. As well as having really dry skin, I’m also incredibly lazy when it comes to skincare. For me, skincare should be quick, easy and cheap, so here’s my guide to keeping your skin looking fresh and glowy even when it’s minus 2 outside.

I never buy expensive moisturisers because (and feel free to correct me here) come on they’re all the same. Usually I just skulk around Boots until I find a deal on a Nivea or Garnier one, but my current moisturiser is the Olay 3 in 1 Day Cream. It’s usually about £10, smells really fresh and isn’t sticky at all. When I’m having a no makeup day, I tend to apply moisturiser two of three times during the day and this soaks in immediately and leaves my skin feeling well moisturised for ages.

Prioritise your skin type

The other day I was desperate for a pamper evening and I didn’t have any face masks at home so I went to the supermarket and bought one of those cheap ones for a couple of pounds. Only now do I realise that this was a big mistake. I had a quick skim of the instructions, popped it on my face and got into the bath for a nice relax, only to take a second look at the packet and see that it was for oily skin. I swear, it took three days for my skin to return to normal dry rather than really really really dry.

You’re probably not an idiot like me, but if you are then just make sure you’re buying the right product for your skin type.

Target problem areas

I have a problem with redness, a tiny bit of acne scarring and I’m also incredible vain so I’d really quite like rid of the lines around my eyes and forehead. Instead of having bottles and bottles of potions to put on my face I like to keep it simple. All I use at the minute is The Body Shop Tea tree wash and toner which is really helping to even out my skin tone and reduce leftover scarring and Argireline Solution 10% from The Ordinary.

Don’t forget bed time!

This is my downfall, especially in Winter, when it’s just all too tempting to jump straight into bed and get snuggled up in my pjs. When I get up in a morning I’m more than happy to spend a good few minutes on my skincare routine (I’m definitely a morning person) but at night I can’t think of anything worse. But I’m trying really hard and you should too so all that skincare goodness can soak into your skin overnight and you’ll wake up feeling fresh and lovely.

What are your go-to Winter skincare products? Let me know in the comments!

Nothing worse than a sticky moisturizer! One thing I’ve really been loving is a simple vitamin E stick for my lips. It was only $2.50 and it’s some weird brand I’ve never heard of before but it helps my lips stay hydrated! 🙂

I totally agree with layering moisturiser through the day! If I know I’ll be in the car with the heater on I’ll slather on an extra thick layer so that will evaporate rather than my skin’s natural oils. I’ve never heard of argireline before, I’ll have to look into that!
